NEW ZEALAND RUGBY TOUR :: australia's DARWIN STUBBIES GOLDEN OLDIES :: north island
Arriving in Auckland the Darwin Stubbies Rugby team and supporters commenced their tour of the North Island of New Zealand. Amazing views from the Sky Tower, Matakohe Kauri Museum and a visit to Tane Mahuta, the giant Kauri tree in the Waipoua forest were enjoyed before arriving at Omapere with it's amazing views of the Hokianga Harbour. Bay of Island's excursions over several days were followed by a great evening rugby game and socialising at Kaipara Flats. The Pio Pio farm stays on the journey to The Grand Chateau in the Tongoriro National Park were enjoyed and the only disappoinment was the inclement weather at the mountains. Rotorua and Taupo with their thermal wonderland, traditional Maori culture and picture perfect lake views beckoned the Darwin Stubbies next.
The Gannet Colony. along with a winery visit were highlights enjoyed in the Hawkes Bay, before finishing the tour via Palmerston North to Wellington for the Golden Oldies events.
