For parents“We know how you feel because we’re parents too.” If your children have been invited to go on a school music tour, sports tour or educational tour, you’ll have to give your consent before they’re allowed to travel. Youngsters have a way of putting the pressure on to say yes, but you may feel apprehensive about them being away and you may also be wondering whether the cost and worry is worth it. In our experience, after taking thousands of young people on hundreds of tours, the answer is a resounding ‘yes’. Travelling expands young people’s understanding and awareness of different cultures. Often the experience is one of the best times of their lives and the memory stays with them forever. While they’re away from home children experience self-reliance and gain confidence – all within the safety of the group, and under the watchful eyes of their teachers, tutors and Tour Time tour leaders. We don’t recommend billeting as youngsters often feel nervous about staying with ‘strangers’. We prefer to arrange accommodation in well-known hotels or motor inns where children can be together with their teachers or group leaders. We have years of experience with providers throughout New Zealand and we know which places work best for school teams or music groups. Our experienced overseas partners also know which places work best for groups. When we design tours for young people, we put ourselves into parents’ shoes and pay attention to even the smallest details:
