Welcome to the Spectacular South of New Zealand

The South Island hosts the purest natural landscapes you’ll ever experience. From rugged coastlines to lush plains, experience amazing views. Renowned for its majestic mountains, stunning lakes, glaciers and waterfalls, it is the larger of the two major islands of New Zealand in surface area, the North Island being the smaller but more populous.

You will love this country!

We can operate this itinerary as an individual tour for your choir or we will be taking expressions of interest from individuals wishing to participate in these extended tours. The tour dates and confirmation will depend on meeting minimum tour numbers.

Day 1 - Christchurch

Arrive Christchurch. We have time to relax and unwind in Christchurch (known as the Garden City). You could be forgiven for thinking you were in England! Nostalgia influenced early immigrant city planners - Christchurch was built with England in mind. Explore one of the many beautiful gardens, parks, or the Gothic style Art Centre, the Arts and culture heart of Christchurch. You could take a trip out to the French seaside settlement of Akaroa, visit the ‘Cardboard Cathedral’ or the Antarctic Centre, or just relax while punting down the Avon River which runs through the heart of Christchurch. Another option is the tramway if you would like to explore the city in heritage style which combines history and sightseeing. Check into your Accommodation.

Day 2 - Christchurch - CONCERT

Today provides the opportunity for another relaxing and sightseeing day prior to our afternoon/evening concert.

Day 3 - Christchurch - Mount Cook - Omarama

Expect to be impressed by the ever-changing landscape of New Zealand’s South Island!  See expansive and fertile river plains of the Canterbury Plains, high country farmland and sub alpine landscapes of the McKenzie Pass. Take in the iridescent blues of the glacier fed lakes Tekapo and Pukaki. Most impressive however, are views of the Southern Alps and Mt Cook Aoraki, New Zealand’s highest peak. Along the way, we stop at points of interest including the Church of the Good Shepherd with its wonderful stained-glass windows framing a majestic view of the mountains.
We visit Mt Cook township, where the opportunity is yours to take an optional scenic flight of the Southern Alps and Mt Cook itself and the glaciers.

Day 4 - Omarama - Dunedin - CONCERT

This morning we travel beside Lake Benmore and view New Zealand’s largest Hydro Dam. We continue out towards the East coast where we have the opportunity to view the unusual Moeraki Boulders, which look like giant marbles on the beach.  Debate continues as to how these formations came to be, their symmetry amazes even the most accomplished geologist.

We continue traveling south through lush dairy and sheep farms of Southland before we arrive in Dunedin the ‘Edinburgh of the South’, which becomes evident as we take a tour of the city. What about a walk up the steepest street in the world before arriving at our hotel. Like Christchurch is to England, Dunedin is to Scotland!  Don’t be surprised if you see or hear a bagpiper wandering through the streets tonight. This evening there is the opportunity for a concert.

Day 5 - Dunedin - Queenstown

We farewell Dunedin. and travel out into the lush sheep grazing pastures of Otago and Southland, to Queenstown, truly one of the most picturesque settings in the world.
